Abrams, Stephen Irwin (1938– )
Psychologist who studied extrasensory stimulation of conditioned
reflexes in hypnotized subjects. He was born July 15,
1938, in Chicago, Illinois, and studied at the University of Chicago
and Oxford University, England. Abrams has served as
visiting research fellow at the Parapsychology Laboratory,
Duke University, Durham, North Carolina; president of the
Parapsychology Laboratory of the University of Chicago
(1957–60); and charter associate of the Parapsychological Association.
His paper ‘‘Extrasensory Behavior’’ was presented at
the Seventh Annual Congress of the Parapsychological Association
at Oxford in 1964.
