American Folklore Society (AFS)
Long-established American society, founded in 1888, concerned
with the scholarly study, collection, and publication of
folklore throughout the world. It works to establish public policy
to honor diverse cultures and their traditions. The society
holds an annual convention and publishes the quarterly Journal
of American Folklore and other studies as well as the American
Folklore Newsletter (six issues per year). Address 4350 N. Fairfax
