Believed to be the assembly place for the witches Sabbat at
Mora, Sweden, during the great witchcraft hysteria of
1669–70. It was said to be a large meadow with a house where
there was a long table set with ‘‘broth with colworts and bacon
in it, oatmeal, bread spread with butter, milk and cheese.’’ This
fairyland repast sometimes ‘‘tasted very well, and sometimes
very ill.’’
