Dianetics
A system of mental health therapeutics devised in the 1940s
by writer L. Ron Hubbard. Announced in 1950, for several
years dianetics survived as an independent practice. However,
it was soon taken up into the much broader program of the
Church of Scientology, founded in 1954, which embodies the
more comprehensive spiritual philosophy developed by Hubbard.
