Lawton, George (1900–1957)
Psychologist, gerontologist, lecturer, and writer on Spiritualism.
He was born on June 22, 1900, in New York City, took
all his degrees from Columbia University (B.A., 1922; M.A.,
1926; Ph.D., 1936), and entered private practice as a psychologist
beginning in 1936. He authored several books, the most
important being The Drama of Life after Death (1932), concerned
with the psychological motivations behind Spiritualism. Lawton
died October 9, 1957.
