Oram, Arthur T(albot) (1916– )
British accountant and statistician who conducted research
on card guessing. He was born June 27, 1916, at Devizes, Wiltshire,
England, and worked both for the Civil Service and industry.
His interest in parapsychology led to his joining and
eventually serving on the council of the Society for Psychical
Research, London. His work on the ‘‘displacement effect’’ in
card guessing was reported in Nature (vol. 157, 1946).
